Bad MF

This was my first time photographing Samuel L. Jackson and on this day, Samuel told me, “I hate taking pictures!” I was shocked and said, how is that possible because you’re in every movie ever made. He said, “well, with movies, you never look into the lens of the camera and I’m portraying a character, I’m saying my lines and hitting my mark, so it’s different. With photographs, it’s the real me looking into the camera and I feel like I have to pose.” I said, okay, let’s forget about taking pictures today, I’ll say the name of a movie and you can become that character from that movie. I started calling out the names of movies he has acted in and before I knew it we were all having a blast. For this image, I called out the name of the Quentin Tarantino film, Pulp Fiction where his character says, “my wallet is the one that has Bad M… F… printed on it” and Mr. Jackson gave me this look and I captured the moment.
